The five-minute website checkup before a busy season

A small, sensible list of things to check before more people start relying on your website.

When a busy season is coming up, your website does not need a dramatic overhaul. It needs a calm little check-in.

Start with the front door

Open your site in a private browser window and read the first screen as if you have never been there before. Is it obvious what you do, who it is for, and what someone should do next?

Check the phone version too. Most people will meet your site with one hand, a small screen, and very little patience for hunting around.

Try the important paths

Send yourself a test contact form. Click the phone number. Look at your hours, prices, dates, and links to booking or registration. Small details are easy to miss when you are the person who updates them.

Look for signs of trouble

Make sure the site is loading securely, images are not broken, and the footer still has the right contact details. If updates and backups are part of someone else's job, this is a good moment to ask when they were last handled.

Five minutes will not catch everything. It will catch the things your next customer is most likely to notice โ€” and that is a very good place to start.
